Bailey and Katy came to us as rescues. We lost Bailey in June of 2016 and Katy in November of 2022. We were blessed to have Annie join us in August of 2016. They have brought great love and joy to our immediate family and to extended family and friends. This blog will share their stories and issues related to Shelties. Some told from their perspective and others told from those that share this journey with them. Notice: This blog does have Amazon product links and Google Adsense

Claiming the Easter Basket
I'm no fool, she who claims the Easter basket claims the treats inside. We've had this doggy Easter basket for several years and it came filled with Easter stuffies. However, there is nothing saying that big bunny won't fill it with treats if I hold on to it.
Mom is still trying to figure out how I got my leg thought the hole. She made Dog Dad watch me when I got up to make sure I didn't hurt myself.

Easter Peeps
Mom saw these plush Peeps at Pet Smart when we were there getting our pictures taken last Saturday. Dog Dad mentioned we weren't playing much with our toys, but Mom said these were cute enough to use as decorations if we didn't play with them.
Mom has since been finding Peeps scattered around the house. She rarely sees us playing with them, but every night she puts them back in our day bed, but when she looks for them they are never there.

Wordless Wednesday: Visiting the Easter Bunny
Mom likes taking us on outings, especially when she gets the chance to get our picture taken. Saturday Pet Smart offered free pictures with the Easter Bunny and Mom and Dad brought us down to have our pictures taken. We found a giagantic bunny located in a side room waiting for us. Mom warned us this was not a bunny to chase as giant bunnies would not be intimidated by bad Sheltie behavior. We weren't too worried about any bunny and then we saw that Mom wasn't kidding, the bunny really was a GIANT and it walked on two legs. We were very polite to the bunny.
We liked the room the pictures were taken in because Mom closed the door and we were allowed to wander around before we had to approach the bunny. The bunny turned out to have soft hands and gave some good tummy rubs while pictures were being taken. Dog Dad was allowed to snap pictures and the lady from Pet Smart took a picture that she emailed to Mom, too. Dog Dad and Mom said we did a great job and the bunny even gave us packaged treats when we left.

Easter Toys
Last week Mom dug out our Easter toys that she packs away with her Easter decorations. We have a rather large collection because Bailey loved these toys. Katy has been showing some interest, but I, Annie find them a little intimidating. They are rather loud and odd looking. However, I will say they make great pillows.

Hanging in the Snow Bank
Annie has been very curious about the snow banks this Spring. Mom thankfully missed the shot of Annie rolling into the bushes and me, Katy, standing there panicked thinking she was eaten by the bush. Mom just laughed and called her and she bounced out like nothing was wrong. The girl is nuts, but she does love hanging out in the snow.

Avoiding Snowmageadon
First we were supposed to get over a foot of snow. Then it was 8-12 inches of snow. By Tuesday we were down to 3-6 inches but starting Wednesday afternoon. When we went to bed, no snow. It was blowing around when we woke up this morning, but not really coming to anything much. Dog Dad and Mom were not displeased. They were able to get out and go to the pool to exercise as the pool has been closed during all the other storms last night.
While the storm tried to get up its energy we didn't get much more than an inch. Perhaps Spring is starting to assert itself.

The Snow Corridor
Mom has certain shots that she just likes to get of us. One is comparing us to the height of other things, high snow walls work. The other is her strange facination with the paths in our race track that Dog Dad digs for us. She just delights in catching pictures of us in the paths.

March Madness
Brackets are broken and for once we aren't to blame. It truly is crazy. Dog Dad is a huge college basketball fan and we are here to be supportive, loving and encouraging but we will admit we just don't understand much other than when the teams win we get petted, when they lose we get petted. It seems like a good situation all around to us.

Monday Mischief: Mining Snow Cookies
Scooping up snow cookies when the snow is fresh is easy. However, as the snow crusts over with melting and refreezing there is more work involved for the same tasty product. Mom loves to capture us at work.
Don't get me started on the distractions of the tourists taking pictures or the competition who messes up my neat sites for snow cookie removal. She can destroy any sight in moments.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
Mom changed the Valentine's Flag to the St. Patrick's Day flag right after a snow storm. Mom offered a trade of a cookie for a picture with the flag for today's post.

Thankful Thursday: Our Snow Race Track
Dog Dad is amazing. No matter how awful the snow storm he always cleans out our race track so we have a place to potty and play. On this thankful Thursday, we are thankful for Dog Dad and our race track. Long after the snow has stopped we have our wonderful track to chase and play and yes do our necessary business outdoors until we it melts enough to venture out on to the frozen tundra.

Wordless Wednesday: Supervising the cleanup
We were supervising and providing security while Dog Dad kept our race track clean during the storm. It took several trips but we were there to make sure the job was done right.

The Melt Before the Storm
We are due for a big storm today. As of Monday the weatherman says we could get another foot of snow cookies. Mom decided it would be interesting to get some pre-storm pictures to see how much melting has occurred since the last storm. We had 16 inches of snow last week, but it's March and despite Mother Natures best efforts Spring is coming. Spring snow keeps falling, but it doesn't have the staying power of winter snow.
We lost power in the last storm so we hope all of you stay safe and dry in this storm. That being said we are enjoying the last snow cookies of the season.

Before and After
Mom caught these pictures during the storm last Thursday and really liked them because it demonstrates two things, one Spring snow really doesn't want to stay and two Evergreens shed snow at the first possible chance they get.
Snow has been melting steadily since the storm, but we have hope as the weather dude says more snow is coming our way this week. We like our snow cookies as long as we can get them.

Remembering Bailey on his Birthday
Well technically Bailey's birthday would have been Saturday but we rarely post on weekends. 15 years ago a beautiful Sheltie boy was born and we were blessed to have him in our lives for 13 years.
He was one of the most social and welcoming dogs I've even known. When our scared and frightened Katy arrived Bailey made it his personal mission to help her feel safe, learn to play, and embrace life.

Thoughtful Thursday: Enjoying the Yard
We love hanging out in the yard, however sometimes a girl just needs a little privacy. Mom may want to take pictures, but it doesn't mean I have to cooperate.

Wordless Wednesday: Look Deeply Into My Eyes
Well it works sometimes. I can sometimes distract Mom with my adorable cuteness, but for the most part she refuses to let me get away with using my cuteness to get away with trouble. Still she can't resist snapping pictures.

Walking the fence
Fence patrol is one of our important daily chores. For one thing the squirrels seem to think the fence is a squirrel highway. For another the local bunnies like to use the fence to slide in and out of our yard on a frequent basis. As a result we spend considerable time patrolling. Then of course we have to share lintel with the black lab next door on a frequent basis. After all he sees all the stuff on the other side of the fence we never see. While Mom frowns on the conversations, it really is all about her security and we think she should appreciate our hard work.

Ear Scratch Anyone
All that dog yoga pays off. Nothing like having a sister that can scratch your ear for you. Well except when she misses. That's less nice, but for the most part it is kinda cool.
