Bailey and Katy came to us as rescues. We lost Bailey in June of 2016 and Katy in November of 2022. We were blessed to have Annie join us in August of 2016. They have brought great love and joy to our immediate family and to extended family and friends. This blog will share their stories and issues related to Shelties. Some told from their perspective and others told from those that share this journey with them. Notice: This blog does have Amazon product links and Google Adsense

Katy's Christmas Cave
Mom warned you they'd be flashbacks as she processed all the Christmas pictures.
Katy loves people, but like many people she finds crowds to be a bit overwhelming. One of her favorite holiday traditions is the long table clothes because they make a great cave or as Katy likes to think of it a wonderful Sheltie retreat. She can see and hear everything that's going on, but she's away from it and has more of a choice when to interact with it all. It took several tries for Mom to get this picture, which makes sense. Who wants to be bothered in your retreat?

Who needs Stockings?
All the treat balls were left by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. Mom talked to us before we went to see Santa this year about what we wanted for Christmas. While Bailey was big into all kinds of toys, we mostly use our toys for pillows and Annie will occassionally gnaw on a Nylabone, but she has plenty. What could Santa bring us that wouldn't be a waste? Well what Mom realized is we do play with our treat balls. Even when they aren't full we will roll them around the house, bat them into walls and generally have a good time with them.
Santa searched but could only find one type of treat ball we didn't already have. The elves have been busy making toys so he has been doing his dog shopping online. However, in consultation with Mom he did offer to fill our treat balls instead of stockings this year and when we woke up on Christmas morning every treat toy in the house was filled with treats. We had a wild Christmas morning that continued through the week as some of these treat balls are more challenging then others.

Thankful Thursday: The Christmas Card Wreaths 2017
Mom didn't actually get a picture of the filled second Christmas wreath until after Christmas. She actually got a few cards after Christmas and since the wreath was still up they were added to the wreath and displayed until the decorations came down last weekend. A big thanks to all of you who sent cards this year. It really is a mood booster to see the cards come in and it also is a conversation starter during the Christmas Eve party. Everyone always mentions the wreaths.

Christmas Wrapping
Katy here for some reason Annie has completely unreasonably loud reactions to certain normal household sounds like for instance TAPE!!! You can only imagine how wonderful it makes this time of year and of course the prep for birthdays and other gift giving occasions. As you can see she's losing it while Mom is wrapping the last of the Christmas presents while I her loving sister am trying to calm her down. I hope Santa isn't seeing this as she was also chewing on Dad's shoes again this week.
Here's Mom trying to demonstrate to Annie that the tape is in fact harmless.
Then clueless as ever, what was it I was barking about again?

Helping Decorate the Tree
Mom often thinks we aren't helpful when it comes to Christmas decorating but look at me cleaning up an ornament before it goes on the tree. Santa are you watching?
