Bailey and Katy came to us as rescues. We lost Bailey in June of 2016 and Katy in November of 2022. We were blessed to have Annie join us in August of 2016. They have brought great love and joy to our immediate family and to extended family and friends. This blog will share their stories and issues related to Shelties. Some told from their perspective and others told from those that share this journey with them. Notice: This blog does have Amazon product links and Google Adsense

Halloween Fun
Mom thought to take some pictures before it got dark this year. We think she's planning on making some more holiday flags and perhaps a page for next year's calendar. The dark pictures she made last year were not nearly as useful.
No snow this year but we did get some drizzly rain over the course of the evening. Never enough to send us inside.
We are used to having lots of kids but this year we had light traffic.
Hope all of you had fun.

Happy Halloween
Last Halloween we were surprised by a storm the day before Halloween. Between Covid and the snow Mom and Dad had to make some changes to our traditional Halloween Trick or Treating preparations. All and all it went really well. We enjoyed hanging out in the front yard after dark in the snow. While Mom was cold we were quite comfortable with our nice thick Sheltie coats.
Mom is hoping for better weather for the little ones tonight. She's been adding more yard decorations and hopes to be able to post some post Halloween pictures showing how we spent the holiday.
We hope all of you have a fun, peaceful Halloween.

Happy 11th Gotcha Day Katy!!
Happy Gotcha Day Katy. When we got that call that Labor Day weekend that Sheltie Rescue had a match for us we were thrilled and rushed to get ready to bring you home. We didn't understand at the time Bailey's hesitation. We knew this wasn't the same foster home he'd been brought too we only realized later this was the clearing house for all the Shelties coming through rescue. Bailey while only a baby at the time remembered the place and he did not want to be left again. He had no way of knowing an amazing Sheltie Princess was about to become a permanant attachment in his life. Once you got into the car with him there was no going back until he left us that final day.
That top picture is one of my favorites because you have such a love for kids. You always act shy and reserved but you just can't resist getting involved with their play.
While you gave up playing ball and even toys when Bailey passed this picture reminds me of what a fierce competitor you used to be when you played with Bailey.
Happy Gotcha Day my warrior princess. It has been a magical journey.

Happy 5th Gotcha Day Annie!!!
It has been a some what noisy summer as Mom and Dad have been getting repairs done on the house. Katy and I are sharing a new deck as this year's gotcha present. I must say we weren't thrilled with the idea of a new deck. The old deck was special. It was here even before Bailey. Dog Dad said that was the point. It had been here a very long time and it needed to be replaced. We had our doubts. A whole week of having no freedom to come and go on our own was rather stressful.
Also with all these crazy tropical storms and then threats of tornadoes we haven't really had the chance to experience being out on the deck. It has merely been a means of exiting and entering the house. We are hoping as the fall weather comes we will come to appreciate the new deck as much as the old.
Mom says it is hard to believe it is 5 years since she and Dog Dad returned from their Maine vacation with Katy and then went to CT to go and bring me home. I'm not sure how they got along without me. I take very good care of all of them. After all who would have been Dog Dad's office Dog during COVID? Katy is certainly not office dog material.
We aren't around as much anymore. We have kept reading and following our friend's blogs. It is good to know others are still out there blogging. Mom has focused more on her craft stuff but she is still interested in the pet world.

Happy 13th Birthday Katy!!
Katy becomes a teenager. It is hard to believe my baby girl has turned the corner to becoming a teenager. It seems only a moment ago that we put Bailey into the car on a Labor Day weekend to go pick up a beautiful shy Sheltie girl to bring her home.
Happy Birthday my beautiful girl. We are so glad you came to be with us.

Bailey's 5th Anniversary
With a friend having lost his dog this week and my own dear Katy turning 13 this week, my thoughts have been returning to Bailey. It is hard to believe its been 5 years, but our dear boy crossed the rainbow bridge 5 years ago today.
I find it hard writing about Bailey because it reminds me of what is to come rather than focusing on what I have today with my other two. However, Katy is coming to that milestone birthday Bailey reached and rather than facing it with fear today I want to celebrate the great joy that both dogs have brought into our lives. It was brutal watching Bailey go in that last year but I can't forget his gentleness, his kindness, and his love of play.
I will always love you my dear boy.

Friday Flowers: Pansies
Mom got some pansies for our deck flower boxes. These purple ones were dead headed when Dog Dad bought them so Mom was thrilled to see the actual colors.

When Thread Attacks....
Now Mom often accuses Katy and I of attacking her craft supplies. There are some fiberfill incidents best left not discussed without our attornies present. However, I'd like to present evidence that sometimes the craft supplies attack us.
Case in point here I am on the floor sleeping peacefully while Mom works on her crochet Barbie doll outfits and wham crochet thread hits the floor. Do I attack it, harm it? Clearly no. I leave it alone.
Is that enough for this aggressive thread? No it clearly attacks me. When I attempt to peacefully calm it by sniffing and licking Mom tells me to leave it alone and removes it.

Remembering Bailey on his Birthday
As Katy approaches 13 this June Bailey has been on my mind more lately. He would have loved having us both home like we've been since COVID. He was a people dog and loved nothing more than spending time with us and Katy.
It will be 5 years this June since we lost him but he will always be a part of our hearts.
We hope all of our friends are well. I've been reading your blogs, I just haven't had much to post for the girls lately. Hopefully I will get to posting more soon. I wish all of you well.

Merry Christmas
We hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthier New Year.
We didn't get our annual visit and picture with Santa this year, but we did participate in Dog Dad's work Pet Parade. Mom was amazed we cooperated as we are not generally costume wearing dogs, but anything for Dog Dad and let's be honest a few treats.

Snow Today Gone Tomorrow
You might remember we posted snow pictures for Halloween. Well typical of New England weather we woke Monday morning and the snow was all but gone.
Of course Mom has to get pictures of us to demonstrate the lack of snow.
The pumpkins have emerged from their snow coverings. So much for snow cookies

Halloween Fun
Trick or treat was allowed in our city but not all over the state. It was strongly encouraged that we find non-contact ways to distribute the candy. Chutes seemed to catch on across the area. There were several in our neighborhood.
Normally we stay inside the house and bark at the little ones from the door but due to COVID the candy distribution was happening outside and Mom knew we needed to be part of the security so she bundled up and came out with us for a while and then decided we had to go back inside to warm up while she and Dog Dad finished up with the last of the little ones.
For once we actually got to observe what goes on during this candy collecting night. We've walked around with little ones collecting candy but we've never just sat outside and watched it from our own yard. Mom is thinking this might be worth continuing next year.
Our neighborhood has long been a popular spot for Halloween candy seekers so while our numbers were down with COVID we still had more than most of Mom's friends and family got, especially considering by the time Mom and Dad closed down the temps were in the low 30's.
What else should one do but snuggle with a holiday bone when one's responsibilites are done for the evening.

Halloween Surprise
We knew Halloween was going to be different this year with the COVID restrictions. Mom tells us despite the restricitions the City has decided to allow trick or treating with some new rules. So this first picture kind of demonstrates the fall feeling Mom was gong for as she's been keeping us from eating her colorful fall pumpkins.
However we woke this morning to this...
With low temps predicted it has Mom concerned with how many kids will be out. We hope to have some cool Halloween pics to post but we will see what the weather brings.
We must say since we don't get candy on Halloween we did prefer the snow cookies.
Just a note we have allowed comments again. While we were away we were getting some disgusting spam filling up Mom's email notifications of comments to be modified daily and she shut off comments hoping the disgusting warts would leave us alone.

Annie's 4th Gotcha Day
Four years ago after an extensive search Dog Dad and Mom found me and brought me to live with my sister Katy. Mom gets very nostalgic about these days. I like them because we always get more treats.
We haven't been around much. Mom has been doing lots of craft blogging and we've been helping dog Dad work from home. It is lots of work being an office dog. He requires lots of supervision. Katy and I often trade of duties. We can't possibly imagine how he survived when he was away from the house.
We hope all of you are doing well with COVID restrictions.

Happy 12th Birthday Katy
Happy Birthday my sweet girl. It seems impossible to be writing that you are 12 today. I had to check twice to make sure I had the numbers right. How could my sweet baby have grown up so much???
