Happy 13th Birthday Katy!!

Katy becomes a teenager. It is hard to believe my baby girl has turned the corner to becoming a teenager. It seems only a moment ago that we put Bailey into the car on a Labor Day weekend to go pick up a beautiful shy Sheltie girl to bring her home.

Happy Birthday my beautiful girl. We are so glad you came to be with us.

Treat Ball Birthday Party

While we snuggle with our stuffies, we don't play too much with our toys, except our treat balls. So Dog Dad and Mom instead of buying new toys have resorted to treat ball parties for special occasions. As you can see Mom and Dad hunted down our treat balls and prepped them before the party began.

It was every girl for herself.

Much later after dinner, we finished off the day with birthday cookies.

Happy 9th Birthday Katy!!!

Happy Birthday my beautiful girl. You have had such a big year. I was so worried about you when you lost Bailey. You withdrew into yourself and we kept pushing to find you a companion. Last July was truly a hard month for you. While you mourned Bailey you also couldn't adjust to living alone. I'm so glad we found Annie and the two of you have become such wonderful friends.

Last year you also experienced your first dog friendly vacation and you were so brave. I was so impressed with how you handled all the challenges of being away from home.

You have payed forward the kindness shown to you by Bailey, by helping Annie to adjust to her new home, too. While her needs were different than yours, you have found ways to meet those and I've been so proud of how you have helped her to fit in here.

Happy Birthday my sweet girl. May this be a much more peaceful and joy filled year.

Happy 8th Birthday Katy!

Happy Birthday dear girl. It is hard to believe you are 8 today. You run like the wind and have the energy of a young pup. You have been so strong and caring during all of Bailey's challenges. It is time for you to relax and enjoy yourself. You have more than earned it.

We went shopping for her birthday and she got to sniff out some new bully sticks along with a new toy. While nervous making her first solo shopping trip she found if she took the back aisles to the target areas she was less nervous than pursuing the main shopping aisles where most of the shoppers gathered.

Dog Dad has promised we will still celebrate with a dog bakery birthday cookie.

Happy 7th Birthday Katy

Happy Birthday Katy!!! We are so happy to celebrate your birthday with you today!!!

Honestly folks I thought Mom would forget to post my birthday with all that's been going on lately. Bailey and I stayed at an amazing doggy B & B this weekend. (Well that's what we called it, Dad says it was technically not a B&B as we had dinner there. However, if you saw this place, it could pass for a human B&B. Pool side seating and access to an all the first floor rooms in an old colony house.) It was a wonderful overnight stay and a perfect get away for my birthday while Mom and Dad attended a wedding we weren't invited to attend.

We've been spending lots of time with family lately and I've learned I like little ones. Who knew herding little humans could be so much fun. Not crazy about the screaming or the crying, but little people are kind of cool after all. The funny thing though is they want to share my toys, but they won't share their toys. Doesn't seem quite fair. However it is kind of cool that they like to throw balls and they don't seem to tire of doing the same thing over and over like adult humans. We seem to tire of the toss and chase game before the little tikes. That never happens when the adults play fetch with us.

Dog Dad has promised Bailey and I a Birthday party tonight with presents, bones, and birthday cookies. I can hardly wait!!!

Katy's Birthday Treats

It can take the Mama time to take pictures and get them all posted, but she promised she'd get my birthday stuff posted before the July 4th holiday.

It was a great birthday. Dog Dad stopped at the bakery for fresh birthday cookies. We love the yogurt covered dog cookies. Of course, they made us suffer until they finished singing.

As the best party game ever Dog Dad got both of us treat balls. We'd never tried anything that rolled and distributed treats before. I figured out the trick really quickly. I batted it with my paw and magically treats appeared as the ball rolled. Bailey took a bit longer as he was sure he could lick his way into the treats.

Dog Dad even found me a new colored toy in my favorite series. These are the only toys I don't let Bailey steal. For some reason he thinks every toy in this house is his. Well that's fine except for these. Oh, I catch him trying now and again, but even Mom says I should be allowed to have some toys that are mine.

After all look at this guy, not only can you chew and squeak, but you also get a built in pillow. This really is an ideal toy.

Dog Dad also found some new toys that make animal noises. This time he found birds, a cardinal and a blue jay. Mom says the sounds are quite "remarkable" and they seem to be endless very entertaining. We like bringing the birds into the house and you can frequently hear the birds chirping away.

The best thing of all was I got an extra long walk with Dog Dad and Bailey. While we were out, I got to meet up with some friends in the neighborhood. It truly was a wonderful birthday.

Happy Birthday Katy!

Happy Birthday baby girl. It is so hard to believe you turn six today. We are so amazed at the changes that have happened since you arrived as a very scared three year old. We are so proud and so pleased to have you here.

In your honor, Mom has decided to share one of her favorite poems from her childhood. In fact she thought this was intended for her when she was six.

"The End" from Now We are Six by A.A. Milne

When I was One,
I had just begun.

When I was Two,
I was nearly new.

When I was Three,
I was hardly me.

When I was Four,
I was not much more.

When I was Five,
I was just alive.

But now I am Six, I'm as clever as clever,
So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.

You have truly grown so much since you were three. Now you are six you are indeed clever. I don't think you have to worry it will end if you decide to admit to turning seven next year.

Can You Believe Everyone Turned Out For Katy's Birthday?

Katy turned 5 on Sunday and Mom and Dad said we were going someplace special to celebrate. Well turns out we went to Bark in the Park at Hopkinton State Park and everyone was there to celebrate Katy's special day. Well that's what Katy thought. She had such a great time.

Bailey is just jealous because Mom and Dad never have had a birthday party like this for him. He can't believe everyone would be there for me.

I'm not sure why he's complaining. I shared on my big day. We both got doggy massages. Mom and Dad are even talking about taking doggy massage classes. I was too hot to eat mine, but we both got frozen doggy yogurts, too. Mom tried to tell Bailey it was too cold for these events when his birthday happens, but he was still a little annoyed.

It was really hot. After years of rejecting anything to do with water, we surprised Mom and Dad by wading on to the docks and cooling off our paws. Once on the concrete docks we walked out to the end and we were surrounded by water. Mom thought we'd be scared, but Bailey decided to have a drink.

We were having such a good time that Mom forgot to snap pictures. Dad did get the one of the top of me resting on my new birthday toy when I got home.

Happy 4th Birthday Katy

Mom is so excited that Katy is having a birthday tomorrow. We have been promised doggy ice cream and other fun. It is supposed to be hot so probably not too much outdoor play.

Katy is taking it all in stride. While I get all excited about more toys and bones, Katy tends to take it in more slowly.

Can you believe Mom taught her to sit on my couch? Well I guess it is her birthday weekend and all.

The heat has been hindering out outdoor training for the Olympics. The heat wave is rumored to be breaking tonight with a thundershower. So, we should be back training for those outdoor events soon.

Meet My Fuzzy Bone

Birthdays are so cool.

This is my new fuzzy bone. Mom said something about replacing the old fuzzy bone, but this is my bone. It works well as a squeeky, chew toy.

It also can be used as a pillow when chewing on a real bone.

Bone also provides some protection from bone stealing brothers. Two fuzzy bones can be distracting and give me a chance to get away with the real prize.

Party Games

Bailey did not mention there would be party games. Dad and Mom were excited about this present. Bailey said he saw the box, but was not that interested because he could not tell what was in it. It did not smell like anything but plastic and cardboard so he did not think it was likely to be very interesting. He was so wrong.

Mom and Dad bought me the Nina Ottosson Dog Brick Interactive Dog Toy and they taught Bailey and I how to play with it at my birthday party. Mom said she was not sure how we would react to the toy. We had looked at it in the store and been casually interested. Once Mom added the treats Bailey and I were having a hard time waiting for our turn to try to find the treats hidden under the sliding panels.

I love that I can use my nose and my paws to find the treats. Bailey is quick at it and wanted to "help" me when it was my turn. Mom held him so I could have a chance to do it all by myself. Mom has promised we can play again soon.

Happy Birthday Katy!

While it is here, I am finally three. I am celebrating my birthday the first time! Bailey and I had the zoomies this morning. We kept leaping on the bed to get Mommy up. Daddy had to leave early so Mom said we would be celebrating tonight. Imagine having to go to work early for a meeting on my birthday! Dad and Mom did sing some silly birthday song though.

Bailey says he has seen my presents and there are some great gifts. It is not fair I have to wait until Daddy comes home. Mom promises there will be some special treats and fun during the day. It is raining so we will not be playing much outside. Bailey says the place we are going walking this weekend is fun. There are woods and many wonderful things to smell. I hope the weather is good so we can go.

I am not sure I can make it until Dad gets home. I feel a zoomie coming on.

Birthday Suggestions

I am going to be three on Thursday. I have never celebrated birthdays before. I never even knew how old I was until Mom and Dad started talking about age and birthdays. I learned about birthday presents when I saw the stack Bailey got and got to share his bones and play with his new toys. Mom and Dad then realized they needed to plan for my birthday, too. Bailey said this year was pretty low key as birthday's go.

So, what suggestions do you guys have for my birthday. Bailey says Mom and Dad have some cool presents tucked away. He thinks I should ask for a trip to a local park to go walking this weekend since I am not crazy about lots of visitors and crowds.

My dream would be a visit next door, but that is not happening. I am not sure I will ever have my dream play date, although we have met on-leash and we do sniff noses under the fence.

Any ideas?
