Bailey's Foot

Nurse Katy is inspecting Bailey's foot after a trip to the Vet. He's had a growth on his paw for a while now and it irritates him. The Vet continues to test the growth and it is benign. Each time the determination has been to keep it under observation. We've discussed removing it with the vet, but it’s in an awkward place which would be challenging to heal.

We are hoping surgery can be avoided, but if he insists on attacking it, the Vet believes at some point surgery may be are only option regardless of the challenge of getting the wound to close after the growth is removed.

We are all saying our prayers that we can find a solution that gives him relief and doesn't damage his paw in providing it.

  1. Aww poor Bailey! That's ruff- we feel your pain. Bear our senior boy has some obsessive licking issues and has to wear a soft sided cone sometimes to keep himself from hurting his own paws/legs :(

  12. Mr Reilly has a growth on his pad - they testing it and said it made up of the same stuff as toe nails. we keep is buffed down with a dremmel as it like a hard callous. To remove it would mean having to remove half his pad. We keep it soft with Musher ointment now.

  15. When I was growing up (many years ago) we had a Sheltie and he had a growth on his foot. We used to soak it in Epsom Salts to help with the swelling. He had surgery a couple of times, but it never really resolved. I hope Bailey gets better soon with no surgery.
