Friday Flowers: Dahlias

Mom loves these big pink flowers and the bees seem to be attracted to them as well. The bees make getting the pictures all the more challenging.

Purple Iris

These bloomed back in May and are one of Mom's favorite flowers. They are especially important to her as they were part of Dog's Dad's Uncle's garden. He harvested several perennials to help us get our garden started when Dog Dad and Mom moved here. He has since passed on but every year when they come up Mom says it is the best memorial to a wonderful man.

Friday Flowers: Lilac Bush

Since we only post our flowers on Fridays it is now summer and still posting our spring flowers. However, Mom is insisting on not skipping her favorites, so it is summer and you are still seeing our spring flowers. It's just a Mom thing.

When we moved here Mom was thrilled to find we had a Lilac Bush in the back yard. She loves the color and smell of Lilacs. It's had trouble during some of the windy and wild winters of the last few years, but this has been one of its stronger blooming years.

Friday Flowers: Rhododendrons

While Mom loves the beautiful purple flowers, don't be fooled, these bushes are havens for for all kinds of intruders.

Mom has been concerned that with the strange Spring weather some of her spring perennials might not do well this year, but she is pleased to see not only her flowers but the first signs of her perennial asparagus crop finally showing signs of life.

Friday Flower: Crocus

Despite the cold, green is starting to break through the ground. Our hearty crocus keep popping out to give us a bit of color. Mom's hoping to see some of the other Spring flowers soon if the snow and ice can finally surrender to Spring.

Friday Flowers: The First Crocus of the Year

Mom took this picture on Wednesday. We had a snow storm on February 18th and then the temps rose into the 60's confusing the poor flowers. We are due for snow again, but Mom had to capture the crocus while they were out.
