Bailey and Katy came to us as rescues. We lost Bailey in June of 2016 and Katy in November of 2022. We were blessed to have Annie join us in August of 2016. They have brought great love and joy to our immediate family and to extended family and friends. This blog will share their stories and issues related to Shelties. Some told from their perspective and others told from those that share this journey with them. Notice: This blog does have Amazon product links and Google Adsense

Parental Curfews
Mom used a version of this post for her Wordless Wednesday post last week. She carefully never explained what the picture demonstrated so we insisted she blog about it this week.
Mom and Dad need a bedtime curfew. As Shelties, it is our job to shepherd our sheep and keep them safe. However, if they will not go to bed however are we to get our sleep? Katy and can usually push Mom into going to bed, but Dad is a night owl. How is a Sheltie to get its beauty sleep when we are kept away waiting for the humans to go to bed? After seeing these exhausted faces would you force us to wait up for you?

Kids, my little watchdog is the same way. But, you don't have to worry. Go ahead and go to bed. Mom and Dad will be okay.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, how could your parents keep you up until so late! You two look so exhausted and you definitely need your beauty sleep!
ReplyDeleteI hope you've had a good sleep after all!
our dad is a night owl too. but we have rooms in the living room we sleep in. mom usually puts us to bed. we try to sleep through dads loud noises. i dont understand why he yells at the tv. we hope you get a nice nap today. ~Cain and Casey~
ReplyDeleteMy first sheltie would run laps from me to the bedroom every night at 9pm. That was his bedtime, and he was my clock. Looks like he wasnt the only sheltie who loves "bed".
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could try going to bed without your parents, or are you worried they will wake you when they come to bed?
ReplyDeleteMy mom reads well into the night. I try to just scoot as far under the covers as I can, but man does she move a lot! And, just as I think I can get some uninterrupted sleep, she wakes up again and starts reading again!
ReplyDeleteWhat can you do, you know? Hope you get some zzzzzzs.

Parents, like sheep, need watching. So we are on the clock until they go to bed.
ReplyDeleteDakota is sleep deprived like you because I am the night owl. Never used to be until I started blogging. In the beginning I didn't stay up late but now that Cat Chat is almost two years old things have gotten very busy. That is also why I haven't been updating Dakota's blog as often as I should.
ReplyDeletePoor Dakota...stays up til I finally turn the lights off (usually around 1am) and I am back up between 6 and 7am. NOT GOOD!
Just keep putting that cold nose on them. That should get them moving!
