Snow Again

Not that we should be surprised, but it snowed again. It seems winter has finally remembered New England. We are enjoying snow cookies again. However, we are not sure how long they will last.

Our Stories are Back: The Big Over Easy

Mama has brought back our morning story hour. Over Christmas, she heard about a mystery series based on nursery characters for adults written by Jasper Fforde. We are listening to the first one The Big Over Easy: A Nursery Crime a Jack Spratt detective story that covers the murder of Humpty Dumpty.

Mama has a thing about the Humpty murder case. She used to make her students try to decide who murdered Humpty as part of a class exercise on traditional literature, so she is enjoying this story.

She is finding it funny how they are mixing Grimm's, nursery rhymes, and mythology all in one book.

Katy has been disappointed that there is little romance in the novel. Bailey was looking for more action. However, Mama loves the combination of mystery and fairytale characters. We will update more when we finish listening to the story.

We Got Snow Cookies!!!

After a long wait it appears we have snow cookies. According to Dad the rain will remove them before long, but Mom insisted on getting some shots of us enjoying the snow while it lasted.

Where is the Snow?

No, we are not trying to jinx ourselves by asking that question. We had a crazy Halloween storm that socked us hard and then nothing. However, this was our yard last year. We had a single path all winter to play in and we are afraid if the snow comes, it will come all at once again and not spread itself out so we can have a few snow cookies, make a few snow dog angels, and let it melt before the next storm hits. We would prefer not to have the snow corridor that hit last year and lasted until mid-spring.

The Tree is Gone and It is Time to Move On

Dad and Mom finally got the tree down this weekend and the Christmas decorations are making their slow journey to that other world know as the attic. They will be coming for our Christmas toys soon and we have been actively seeking hiding places all over the house. Mom discovered Santa's spot this morning, but still allowed us to continue playing with him as she said that is one of the last boxes that go into the attic.

Mom says she spotted some Valentine's Toys at Petco. She has talked Dad into a trip tomorrow. She is hoping to find the plush doggy version of the candy hearts she remembers getting as a child. She is also kind of hoping the local store has the pink elephants she saw online. Knowing Mom she will come home with the cupid frog or one of the Valentine's Flatties. So far, she has not located any talking toys. Just as well, since Bailey has not stopped playing Jingle Bells since he realized the Christmas Toy's days are numbered. We suspect we may even get our Valentine's toys early to keep us from missing our Christmas toys.
