Bailey and Katy came to us as rescues. We lost Bailey in June of 2016 and Katy in November of 2022. We were blessed to have Annie join us in August of 2016. They have brought great love and joy to our immediate family and to extended family and friends. This blog will share their stories and issues related to Shelties. Some told from their perspective and others told from those that share this journey with them. Notice: This blog does have Amazon product links and Google Adsense

Friday Flowers: Mystery Yellow Flower
Mom has a tendency to pick flowers up at the local garden club sales. She knows she got these there, but doesn't know what they are called.
She loves the bright cheerful colors, but these flowers grow like weeds. We had to go out and help Dog Dad trim them back a little while ago. They can take the whole garden if you aren't careful.

Well, I call those "Babci's flowers"! My Babci (grandma) lived in Philadelphia and had a backyard garden in her alley way, about 2 feet by 4 feet. These flowers were in her garden. WHen we had to sell her house and move her into a nursing home, my mom dug up some of those flowers and planted them in her garden. They multiplied like rabbits. When I bought my house, she gave me some, and they multiplied like rabbits again. WHen we moved recently, I made sure to bring some along, and they continue to multiply. They are my favorite!
ReplyDeletePretty sure their fancy name is : oenothera. But feel free to call them Babci's flowers :)

We'll take some cuttings. Jan kills everything, so we'd like to try on our own. :)
ReplyDeleteI like its bright color and you look like you're a flower guard :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mystery flowers.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what those are either, but they sure are pretty. Since I'm not good at keeping plants alive in my garden, I wouldn't mind one that takes care of itself and takes over.
ReplyDeleteThey look like beautiful big buttercups to me! And what a lovely photo of you at the beginning!
ReplyDeletePippa :)
Well, no matter what they are called we think they are so pretty. We love the yellow color. It's just too bad the get overgrown so quickly.

I have these in my garden, and I love them. They do spread a lot, but don't seem to take over like some others I have. My sister and I have always called them "Sundrops" but I think they might actually be "Evening Primrose".
