Happy 14th Birthday Katy!

Dog Mom has been terrible about posting but there was no way she was going to miss Katy's 14th birthday!!!

Happy Birthday my beautiful girl. While the stairs have gotten to be more of a challenge, you wear your age with great dignity. You have Annie well trained as your assistant to help you as your vision isn't quite what it used to be, but you have her trained to be at your side guiding you as you go.

Happy 10th Birthday Katy!

Happy Birthday my sweet girl. I have no idea how you could possibly be 10 years old. You have the energy of a puppy. We are so proud of you baby girl. Since you lost Bailey you have worked so hard at becoming more confident and able to deal with things on your own. While you might have a tendency to want things your own way, you also take care of Annie and make sure she knows she's loved and cared for every day. She couldn't have asked for a better friend to start her new life with in a new home.

Today we celebrate Annie's 4th birthday with shock and amazement. It is hard to believe our little girl is already four.

We wish you many more days of joy and happiness our sweet girl.

Happy 13th Birthday Bailey

This is a post I was never sure I was going to get to make. Last fall we struggled with the possibility that Bailey might have Lymphoma and the prognosis was not good. We did not expect him to see Halloween, let alone celebrate his birthday.

His Vet currently thinks his diagnosis might have been a false positive. He's regained the weight he lost and shown no additional signs of Lymphoma. That being said he has started to struggle with his food again. There could be a thousand reasons, but we ask for all your prayers as we celebrate his big day.

I truly can't believe it has been almost 13 years since we picked up this bundle of joy from his foster Mom. He was such a bundle of energy, there was not a piece of paper safe in the house. Even from his crate he could find ways to pull paper into his crate to shred. Even today, we don't leave the house unless his access to trash is restricted. That boy has a paper habit that while dulled with age, can still stir at any time. Although, with all fairness, Katy seems to be responsible for much of that destruction today.

Happy Birthday, Bailey. It was truly a blessed day when we found you at New England Sheltie and brought you home. You have changed our lives in so many wonderful ways. Enjoy your birthday treats and bones before Katy steals them all.

Happy Birthday Dad!

It's a birthday weekend for Dad. We decided he needs more fresh air so we are taking him on a nice walk for his birthday. After all chasing squirrels does not an income make. We give from the heart. We are inspecting Dad's gift bag to make sure everything is in order.

Happy Birthday Dad. Lots of kisses and furry snuggles are coming your way.

This weekend is also Patriot's Day weekend in MA. Mom says they will be reenacting the Battles of Lexington and Concord. What it means to us is Dad has a long weekend.

Happy Birthday Dad!

I thought we should get Dad a nice juicy bone. After all a bone is such a wonderful gift, you can enjoy for days. Dad could use something to relax with after playing with Bailey and I when he comes home from work.

Katy has it all wrong. Dad does not need to relax. He needs more toys to play with us. Who needs Wii Fit when you have Shelties? Dad needs more toys, balls, squeaky toys, and other things to keep him entertaining, I mean exercising with us.

Mom said we did not need to buy you anything Dad. Therefore, we send you lots of doggy kisses and wishes for a Happy Birthday. We Love You.

Happy Birthday

Bailey turns eight today. It does not seem possible that our first is eight. Now I sound like my friends with children. However, it does seem like yesterday we were driving back from Connecticut with a carsick puppy and beginning our lives with this amazing dog. It does not seem possible that he could possibly be eight. The calendar keeps us honest, though.

Last weekend was cold, wet and rainy, so we decided we would take the dogs out birthday shopping this weekend. I want to see if we can find some of the puzzle toys that will keep the two of them entertained. Of course, Bailey will get some bones as well. We all know that this will start a game of grab and go with Katy. There are no individual purchases for these two. Both share what we buy, even when we buy duplicates. There is no concept of individual ownership.

I do like the pet stores that allow the dogs. We do visit Petco and some of the local dog stores allow the dogs to travel with their owners. Bailey and Katy do not match the human stereotypes. Bailey loves to shop. He could spend hours in the store pursuing toys and treats. Katy wants to get what she needs and be gone. If she could use the Internet, she would do all her shopping online. She sees no benefit to the social aspects of shopping.

Happy Birthday Bailey!! May you spend many more happy years with us.
