Bailey and Katy came to us as rescues. We lost Bailey in June of 2016 and Katy in November of 2022. We were blessed to have Annie join us in August of 2016. They have brought great love and joy to our immediate family and to extended family and friends. This blog will share their stories and issues related to Shelties. Some told from their perspective and others told from those that share this journey with them. Notice: This blog does have Amazon product links and Google Adsense

Whisker Walk 2016 is coming June 5 in Massachusetts
After having crossed the line first at the Paws in the Park walk, Katy and her handler are in training for the longer Whisker Walk. Not that there is actually a race, but Katy has wanted to finish first for years now. This could be the year.
For those of you in the New England area come out and join us for the Sterling Shelter's annual Whisker Walk fund raiser at the Bolton Fairgrounds in Lancaster on Sunday June 5, 2016 from 11AM-3PM. While Katy is determined to be at the head of the walk, Bailey and Mom will be strolling through the many vendors that populate the fairgrounds. It is a very kid and dog friendly event with plenty for everyone to see and do.
It is a great chance to connect with many local shelters and rescues and to help them raise funds for their groups. I am hopeful they will still have the dog fetch game as Bailey has brought home some great prizes over the years.
You can read more about the event here.

We really wish we had more events like this in our area. The local animal shelter does have a "run with the big dogs" fundraiser in October. Mom and Bailey went a few times but then it conflicted with grandkids football games. maybe mom and I can go this year

Mabel
Bailey & Hazel too
One of the reason I post about these events even though most people reading this don't live in this area is to share ideas about what can and is being done to raise money for rescues across the country. We don't always need to recreate the wheel. Sometimes we just need a good idea to get people inspired to try something new to include more people not just to raise funds, but to engage people in the idea of rescue and how to get involved.
DeleteThat sounds like tons of fun!
