Bailey and Katy came to us as rescues. We lost Bailey in June of 2016 and Katy in November of 2022. We were blessed to have Annie join us in August of 2016. They have brought great love and joy to our immediate family and to extended family and friends. This blog will share their stories and issues related to Shelties. Some told from their perspective and others told from those that share this journey with them. Notice: This blog does have Amazon product links and Google Adsense

We Survived NEMO
Mom likes to brag about how she survived the historic Blizzard of '78. She got an award for delivering newspapers in the snow. Well nobody deserves a reward until their bathroom is covered in snow over their head and they still go out in it to do their business. We sucessfully survived NEMO with Dad's help with a shovel and snowblower.
When Dad opened the front door after having shoveled a eight inches of snow before going to bed this is what we saw. After Dad shoveled the back deck we thought we'd be fine and we raced off into the snow. Katy got stuck in the snow bank and has been a little scared of the snow cookie mounds ever since. It took lots of herding work from Bailey and Dad to get her to go all the way around the track Dad eventually built.
Now we are old pros navigating the trenches. We are enjoying our easily available snow cookie supply. We do miss getting to the back fence to check out all the squirrels.

That snow trench looks really cool. I think somebody needs to even out the snow though. I only got about an inch at my house. Not enough to have a really good romp in.

Sadly Mom remembers the Blizzard of 78 because she was in college at Kent State then (Mom is older than dirt). Glad you are all ok and THIS was priceless : " Well nobody deserves a reward until their bathroom is covered in snow over their head and they still go out in it to do their business."

Look at all that lovely snow - heaven:-)
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get a lot of snow here but we had snow drifts so high that when Tink went outside she got lost in the snow. Good thing mumma had a sweater on her. I laughed. That's what she gets for running out of the door as soon as mumma opened it. She thinks shes cool being the first one out. ~Casey
